Welcome,
I’m never happier than when I’m writing. Unless, of course, I’m teaching writing, or helping other writers with manuscript evaluations. Let me revise the opening statement. (Rule of Writing: All first drafts can be improved.) I’m never happier than when I’m writing, teaching, or coaching other writers.
Maybe that’s why I enjoy teaching the practical principles of writing at my seminars and workshops. I love the gleam in people’s eyes when they grasp a guideline about how to create unforgettable characters or page-turner plots. “Ah,” they think, “now I get it.”
I’m also honored when writers trust me with their books-in-progress for evaluation. My task is to help them make their almost-terrific manuscripts terrific. “Book doctor” is a good term. “Midwife” is better. (Your book isn’t sick, it just needs a little help to get born.)
